Homecoming Dresses

I know it's a little bit early, but I'm in a dress kind of mood, so here are a few dresses for every girl's style. My high school never had a homecoming dance, and I was always jealous of the schools who had a homecoming dance or a spring fling dance or any kind of dance, because all we had was prom! I wish I had more opportunities to wear dresses like these, but I guess I'm living vicariously through this blog! Here are my top picks for homecoming dresses. Each style has a splurge dress and a deal dress, enjoy!

I'm taking requests!

I've been getting a lot of views lately, and I want to post what you guys like! Please leave any requests in the comment box below :)

Trend Watch: Feathers

Photo Found Here
Hair. Earrings. Necklaces. Anywhere. Everywhere. Feathers. Are. Everywhere.
Feathers have been popping around everywhere for the spring and summer seasons and the trend is impossible to miss. One has to wonder, who decided to put feathers in their hair? And the answer to that is American Idol judge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. And then, the world became feather-crazy.
Since then, girls everywhere have flung themselves to hair salons, mall shops, and boardwalks to clamp a few strands of feathers into their hair. Whether it be neutral feathers, neon feathers, short feathers, long and skinny feathers, fluffy feathers, feathers clamped to your hair, feathers on a clip, anyone in search of feather extensions can find something that suits their fancy.

Tutorial: Color Block Nails With Glitter!

Earlier today, I saw this picture

here, and I thought, that's so cool! I wanted to do it, so of course I altered the colors to my liking (pink!) and gave it a shot. Here's my little tutorial if you're interested in trying it, too. Let's get started!

How To: Bring out Brown Eyes With Makeup

Note: I don't have brown eyes, so I haven't tested any of these looks out, but they are from pictures that have worked or things I have read online. Lets get started!
So, brown eyes have it kind of easy, because you can wear pretty much any color you want. It might not be as easy to make it pop, but its possible!

Green
Just as brown eyeshadows will bring out green eyes beautifully, green eyeshadow or eyeliner will bring out brown eyes! To get the most out of this trick, use a deep, jewel-toned green or an emerald. A gorgeous suggestion is the Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadow in Saint Bernard for eyeshadow, and Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner in Covet for eyeliner.

How To: Bring Out Blue Eyes with Makeup

Note: I don't have blue eyes, but these are just some things I have seen work for other people and have heard previously. Hope it helps, enjoy!

Using the Opposite Side of the Spectrum: Orange
Okay, no one really wears orange unless its Halloween. But, there are ways to wear a shade of orange without looking totally crazy. Some examples are copper, bronze, peach, coral, or rust (which is 100% in for the fall season!). The darker colors like copper, bronze and rust can be used in the crease if you don't want to have an all-over-dark lid. If you don't want to use peach or coral on your eyes, you can use a coral or peachy blush. My recommendation is Nars Orgasm blush, its super pretty and shimmery so it'll bring out the blue in your eyes and give you a nice glow.

How To Bring Out Green Eyes With Makeup

As a bearer of green eyes, I often find myself trying to bring them out and make them appear brighter. We've all heard the "opposite-side-of-the-spectrum" rule, and most people recommend purple to bring out green eyes. But let's get real--how many people will actually go out in public with bright purple eyeshadow on? Unless you're one of the lucky few that can rock it, you might want to go for a more subtle look. Here's a few ideas!
Light Purple
Good one, Michelle--right? Of course, the easiest way to work purple without looking too over-the-top and bright is light purple. A light shade like this can be swept over the entire lid. You can use a lavendar shade, but my choice would be Bordello by Urban Decay.

Review: CoverGirl Natureluxe Foundation

In Picture: CoverGirl NatureLuxe Foundation in 310 Flax

The CoverGirl NatureLuxe Foundation might be the best foundation to hit the market. It is so lightweight that you'll forget you're wearing it, and it has pretty good coverage. I have bad acne and if I use this foundation and then swipe my mac studio fix powder over it, my face looks flawless. The foundation has a silky feel and makes me feel pretty. My favorite part about this is the way it works with my skin. Like I said, I have bad acne. Most products break out my skin, and I was kind of scared when I bought this considering that it's drugstore and that heavy priced products have broke me out. In an interesting turn of events, this foundation minimizes my pores and I truly think it gets rid of my acne! It's a miracle product! It doesn't dry too fast, either, so you're able to blend it in without it drying. I have no complaints about the smell and, like the product, I find it refreshing. I use this mainly for blemishes and for all over the face as well. I know I'll repurchase it and I'll be buying the lighter shade in a few months when winter rolls in if Flax becomes too dark for me. I recommend this product if you're looking for a new foundation!

Mall Haul!

Hi everyone! I went to the mall the other night in search of new baggy sweaters, a lip gloss, and new shoes and got all of the above! If you'd like to "come shopping with me," continue reading below!
Forever 21
At Forever 21, I found two adorable sweaters and one cute shirt. The sweaters are both baggy and cropped (just what I wanted!) and the shirt is baggy and comfy and cute and perfect for a lazy day at school or to glam up with accessories. I don't remember the specific prices but I think the prices ranged from $13-20.

Tropical Trendy

A few weeks ago, I came back from a lovely Caribbean Cruise. We visited different islands, and in Saint Thomas I picked up the cutest little shoulder satchel/cross body bag. It is lovely and cute and I love using it! It is, of course in my signature color pink and has a cute little lady bug on it, which reminds me of my childhood because I always wore these ladybug earrings my parents got for me. Here is a close up:

Of course, it isn't super roomy, but it holds my phone and keys and there's still room if you wanted to put a chapstick or something in there. There is a zipper pocket on the back that I like to keep my money in. I don't really like to keep money out in the open with things like this or wristlets when there's only a button closure, I don't find it really safe and it's easy to lose just by taking out your phone. This is the back:

Do you have any unique souvenirs from where you went this summer?

Fashion Forward For School

It's almost that time of year again! Before you know it, it'll be time for school again. And why not have some fun with back-to-school shopping? There's no rule that says folders and notebook have to be plain, solid colors. So why not have something with a fun print?!

Here are a few things I purchased from Vera Bradley:

Clockwise: 17 inch laptop sleeve in Folkloric, Calculator in Mocha Rouge, Large Binder clips in Viva La Vera and E-Reader Sleeve in Viva La Vera

Long Time No Talk

I created this blog last summer and, unfortunately, I didn't keep up with it. Now, I'm hoping to change that and get this blog rolling again! Hopefully someone will read it and, if not, I'll just enjoy writing again :)
